Can you still make coffee and tea in the hotel room in 2025?
Certainly! Hotel guests are always in the mood for a fresh cup of coffee or tea and are happy to put it in their hotel room. According to research by GuestCompass.

Let’s brainstorm: what can you cook in the kettle? Sure, water, but what else?
In the liquid category: chocolate milk and ready-to-eat soup.
Also possible are noodles, eggs, pasta, carrots and peas.
You immediately know why guests often complain that the tea tastes strange. So no more hot drinks in the hotel room.
Or is it? GuestCompass will find out
Our observations
Coffee and tea: actually all hotel guests want to be able to make a cup of coffee themselves. Due to long air travel, different time zones and jet lag, the desire for a fresh cup of coffee can also come in the middle of the night. Nothing so nice and luxurious to be able to prepare something yourself. Good coffee and tea facilities in the room are therefore appreciated by all hotel guests. In addition to delicious coffee and tea, you also provide fresh milk, creamer, sugar and honey, then as a hotel you will get a #dikkeduim.
Pros and cons of making coffee and tea in the hotel room?
Of course you can offer fresh coffee and tea 24 hours a day in the lobby or bar, but then hotel guests have to get dressed before getting their shot of caffeine or theine: #arelaxed. A good coffee machine and kettle in the hotel room is a great pleasure for your hotel guests. At least if you clean and maintain it properly; Dirty coffees come out of dirty machines, and everyone immediately throws them away. So check your machines every day. You can immediately replenish the coffee and tea supply. Also such a time consuming, but important job.

Our vision
Yes, it requires maintenance and hassle, but every hotel guest immediately misses that coffee machine and kettle when they are not in the hotel room. Even though you offer coffee and tea in the lobby and you have good room service, hotel guests (also) want to make their own cups. You can also choose to offer good coffee and tea facilities on every floor instead of every hotel room. However, good maintenance is also necessary for this.
What trends do we see?
Coffee: International hotel guests cannot do without it either. It must always be there (24/7), in the lobby or otherwise in the hotel room. The coffee supply is therefore a point of attention at hotels outside the Netherlands. For example, the international hotel chain Le Méridien has a special “Master Baristas program” in which all hotels have their own barista. Some do serve a very special ‘signature coffee’.
What does our panel * say about making coffee and tea in the hotel room?

Our expert panel is unanimous: in the future too, guests will be able to make coffee and tea in their hotel room. “As a hotel you are not obliged to provide this service, but guests expect it,” said one of our panel members.
The majority of hotel guests would also like coffee and tea making facilities in their room in the future. Preferably (standard) a separate kettle so that the tea does not taste like coffee and no more plastic cups. They do not drink well and cause extra waste.
Your hotel does not need to have a barista 24/7. With a good coffee machine and kettle in the hotel room, you can also make your guests happy. Provide clean and working machines, a nice coffee and tea selection and your guests are very satisfied. Chances are they will come back for a cup of coffee
